Upfront mag is back – reincarnated as a blog!

Filed under: Uncategorized — Christine Renaud @ 7:39 am

We’re Back! I’ve been searching for a way to reinvent my print magazine upfront (also called express for a few years) and I finally figured it out! It’s upfront – the blog! It will be the same as the old, but different in ways, too. First, no ads. You will, however, see me recommending my favourite places, things to do, books, music, movies, recipes and so forth, and extolling the virtues of great people and upcoming events. Secondly, no deadlines. Clearly only a benefit to me, but it  also means I can write anytime, so interested readers can check in regularly  and see something new each week or so. Thirdly – I can write whatever I want – which means political, environmental and what some might view as radical ideas -  but overall, it will be more of a sharing of information with people who might have similar interests or just want to know about interesting happenings in the County – like the Maker’s Hand this weekend at the Picton Community Centre.

And lastly, I can post tons of pics, lose the paper waste, speak my mind freely…well, there are a lot of other good things about this new option. Being as Halloween just passed, my pics for this post include the pumpkin I  carved and a pic of my middle child (who’s actually an adult but still loves Halloween) in costume. As you can see, he’s not been himself since he left home! Fellow zombies are his lovely girlfriend and her equally lovely sister.

Watch for the Zombie Walk I want to organize in the County next year.

I hope you’ll  check in with me regularly  to see what’s new – you can bookmark it to make it easy. And please post a comment below to let me know what you think, or if there’s anything you’d like me to write about in the blog.

More this weekend. Till then, keep warm and well.

Christine

  11. Happy to see you back with Upfront in this format Christine. All the best with it and we’ll pass along the good news. Speaking of some good news…here is some to share with you & your viewers.
Please consider attending the following event: To show support for strong action in Copenhagen, A CANDLELIGHT VIGIL AND WALK FOR THE EARTH will be held on FRIDAY, DECEMBER 11, 2009. We will meet in the parking lot of Picton United Church, 10 Chapel Street (across from Tim Horton’s) at 4:30 pm. Please bring candles in lanterns or flashlights. With lights and signs we will walk along Main Street to show that Canadians care about the Earth and future generations. We will be joining millions in this 350 global movement action. Organised by the outreach group of St. Philip’s Anglican Church. Thank you and we hope to see you there!
